My thoughts on…Totspot

We all know that social networking is the in thing nowadays. In fact, you are guaranteed billionaire status if you manage to find an innovative way to harness the near-limitless free time of the masses on the Internet. Just ask Mr. Zuckerberg. Many people have tried just that. Some came good, some came out bad. But I think I found the most ridiculous one to date: Totspot. Sounds catchy, I know. Basically it’s social networking - for babies. Now you know where basement-dwelling nerds come from. But you probably guessed that the babies aren’t responsible for maintaining the pages - the moms do.
I can guess the type of mom that would use this site, the same ones who set pictures of their crotchlings as their desktop wallpaper, the ones who bore you to death at the water cooler with stories of the mundane things that their babies do, and who try to convince you that they are special because they learned to take a dump in a chimney a month earlier than average. And I can imagine the fascinating content coming from that site. Posts about junior throwing up and peeing himself make for great reading. Listen over-obsessed mom, your co-workers and neighbours don’t care about your “precious gift from above”. Why do you think the world would? Still, I know the creators’ll make money, as there is no end to the number of stay-at-home moms willing to delude themselves that their offspring won’t be mediocre like their parents.

You mean you don’t wanna read about how my child learned to pee all over the walls? LOL That does seem like a strange idea. I think it stems from message boards for mothers, now they have their own site like myspace to share all that annoying stuff with eachother and not the rest of the world. Because if you don’t wanna read about that stuff you don’t have to join.

An interesting concept. But i doubt I will be going on that site to read about every single moment of people’s babies lives.

Lord those kinds of mothers drive me crazy, on the flip side I can imagine myself being a new mom, lost as to what to do and finding a site like that somewhat useful….I guess it all depends on which situation of life you find yourself in…
