My thoughts on…the girl that cried “Georegia”

Hey guys. Just want to tell you that I’m ok. You probably thought I was huddled in a corner, sucking my thumb and hugging my teddy bear in the darkness while Tropical Storm Gustav passed right? Wrong. I was on the computer working on an assignment that was due the end of week, and I didn’t even suffer a powercut. Thanks to Gustav, I got a few days extra. But on to another Russian related matter. We all know about the Russian invasion of Georgia. But apparently not every one is sure which Georgia is being invaded.

Case in point, this girl who posted a question on Yahoo! Answers, which goes thusly, “I live in Georegia but i dont see rusia no where not even sound but they says theres tanks should i be worrie.” I know, there are a few typos. In fact that’s an understatement. Spell check is throwing its hands up in frustration, but that’s the way it was typed. Seriously. Check it out if you don’t believe me. I bet you’re feeling pretty smart now aren’t you? This fine example of mental retardation even made its way to Digg. Guess this is what happens when you leave Miss Teen South Carolina around a computer.

Hmmm Let me see. A woman who more than likely speaks some other language than English writes a message in English with typos and so you think she is dumb?

Or is it that she hasn’t seen or heard any russians whatsoever and so she is asking if she should be worried?

Neither one sounds particularly dumb to me. Is it something else?

That’s highly unlikely MB. Even if she spoke another language, I doubt that she’d be unable to spell “Georgia” and “Russia”.
