My thoughts on…the new Star Trek movie posters

I’ve been looking forward to the release of the new Star Trek movie ever since the trailer was released. The trailer was good, but not as satisfying as I would’ve hoped, as it left too many questions. Now there have been posters released featuring the cast of the movie. The picture above features pictures of four of the cast members. From top left clockwise, we have Nero (Eric Bana), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto). Each character gets their own poster, and the Starfleet delta above is what happens when all four posters are combined. Nice touch. If you’re a Trekkie, you’ll realize that the colours on the posters correspond with the uniform colours of the original series.
If you get a hold of the originals, you’ll notice that the Starfleet delta is in the eyes of each character. I love the way the characters look. Zoe looks totally hot as Uhura. Love the eyebrows. Chris looks perfect as Kirk, complete with that cocky look. Zachary looks perfect as Spock. I don’t think they could have cast him better. And Nero, well he’s new, so there’s not much to expect. But he looks cool, and fairly badass. But the ear looks bitten off. Wonder if he lost a fight with Mike Tyson. McCoy (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), Scotty (Simon Pegg) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin) have also had their posters released. I don’t have much of an opinion on them though, but I have no complaints. Head over to StarTrekMovie.com and check them out. I’m pleased, as I was curious as to just how the new cast would look, and if they would resemble the old cast enough to keep vintage Trekkies interested in the new movie. I’m glad to say that they do.

I’m looking forward to it too. I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head about what a teaser trailer is. Leaves us wanting more. Although I’m surprised they haven’t released another trailer yet. But my understanding is that the effects haven’t been done, even though principle photography is. Maybe soon.

Been to long since I’ve been around my friend. Yes the poster looks great and I can’t wait to see the movie when it comes out. I have a soft spot for the Trek films and the whole franchise has faltered a bit. Hopefully this will get it back on track.

Dont know if i could watch this and enjoy it.. but lets see. I’ve long erased star trek from my scifi movie list. its been way too long since i saw the last one. The only one of the movies i enjoyed was the borg. everything else… bleh.

I would be looking fwd to this movie if it wasn’t so far in the future!
May 2009?! Who says the world will even last that long. These people have jumped the marketing gun.

Another Star movie! Never heard about this until now. Hmm, not thinking this is going to worth my movie money, even though I used to love Star Trek when I was a yute.
