My thoughts on…Bernie Mac’s death

God, first Randy Pausch’s death now Bernie Mac’s. This blog’s becoming a bit somber isn’t it? Anyway, I was shocked by news of his death. Then again death is always shocking isn’t it? But I didn’t even know he was sick. Turns out he died from complications due to pneumonia on the 9th of August. I liked Bernie Mac, and not just because of his comedy itself, but that his comedy was clean. Not to say that his comedy didn’t get raw every now and again. He did draw on some of his personal experiences, and growing up in Chicago’s South Side, I can bet they weren’t too pretty.
Not only that, but he didn’t resort to those tired race jokes that black comedians typically use. Plus he was down-to-earth, unlike the typical celebrity. And unlike the typical celebrity, he actually had a marriage that lasted more than a month. 360 months in fact (do the math). As a subnote, Issac Hayes died one day after him, and strangely enough, they were working on the same movie. I know, Mr. Hayes deserves his own post, but quite frankly, another post on death and I’m gonna get depressed. In closing, I will quote George Clooney’s words concerning his death, “The world just got a little less funny. He will be missed dearly.” R.I.P good sir.

that is just too bad–they both sure lived very full lives though
let it be an inspiration to us–to be inspiring–to live as boldly and as loudly as we can so that when it is our time, we have done what we came here to do

Big Mac will certainly be missed. Love his Show - and I find teh died while working on the same movie or in the same time frame as other actors working on movies with a certain actor bizarre. But ah well, such is life. And as for Mr. Hayes, lawd knows we luvd him too… I think the world just got a little less funny and a little less talented too…
