I think every parent has a duty to take their kids to the other side of the world...to show them what real problems are like....

Ur parents R truly an inspiration. So many people use their own unhappy childhood as an excuse to be cruel & irresponsible, an' to live that excuse. Thankfully, Ur parents' abandonment only strengthened their resolve to be de best parents they can be. Nuff luv to dem for livin' a life & not an excuse.

Remember Gordon, I listed a bunch of criteria for being emo. Listening to these bands is but one of them.

(clearing throat)

Well now.....

I can understand the rebellion against the fake clichés that middle class America clings to and looks to for substance. There isn't any there and they are left feeling empty.

HOWEVER, I do think this type of reaction is a bit much. Those who have been abused and such...I could understand. But some of these kids are growing up in conditions that I could have put to good use while growing up. I think I'd be a lot further along actually.

Like you said, many may be doing it for the drama. I can take some of those kids to places that I had to stay when my life was in the basement. the places you wrote about where police raids on crack houses were a weekly event and it's right next door!

Funny shit. That's why I never got into ahows like "The Hills" or "The OC." Fuck "teen angst", especially when it's coming from kids who have it relatively easy!
