oj_simpson.jpgOJ Simpson is back in the crosshairs of the media after being accused of armed robbery of his career memorabilia in Las Vegas. Is it me, or am I the only one that’s tired of this? I’ve chosen to ignore it, but the media keeps pushing it in your face. You watch TV, it’s there. Read the newspaper, it’s there. Start up your browser, still there. So I’m posting this not because I care about “The Juice,” but because I’ve reached my limit and need to vent. If I don’t, I swear I’m gonna follow in his “alleged” footsteps and kill somebody!

This case has been given far too much airtime. And it’s getting more ridiculous. A woman was outside the courthouse giving “free juice,” obviously an OJ supporter, another man parading with a poster saying “Ask Jesus to save you now,” a man in a chicken suit, a guy trying to high five OJ’s defense attorney, etc. Not to mention the involvement of OJ’s girlfriend, whose name now ranks as one of the top searches. Hmm. I wonder? CHRISTIE PRODY! (Wonder if I’ll get some hits out of that?) This whole damn thing has turned into a reality show. While this is happening, a much more important case, the one involving the Jena 6, goes relatively unnoticed. And there are far worse things happening in the world. Far greater atrocities than a former football star/accused murder’s legal woes.

But no, they’d rather pay attention to this. People don’t want to confront something uncomfortable, like racism. They want to hear about yet another celebrity on trial. And the media is more than willing to satisfy their need for sensationalism, because news no longer infoms. It merely entertains. I think OJ did it just to get some more media attention. I mean why would OJ commit such a petty crime? What would a man that wealthy gain from robbing some of his old junk from his days in football, aside from even more wealth, increased celebrity, and a possible book deal (”If He Stole It”). Obviously the 90s weren’t enough for him. Look people, OJ obviously craves attention. He’s loving every minute of this. If we really want to punish him, all we need to do isstop paying attention.
