My thoughts on…the new year
2006 is now history, and 2007 has begun. ‘06 was an eventful year, and won’t soon be forgotten. For me, it didn’t go by as fast as years past, perhaps because of blogging. How did you usher in the new year? At one of those new year’s balls, a final attempt by promoters to snatch your holiday dollar? Or in the arms of your beloved, or at church, like I did? It’s a bit of a tradition in my family, and the year’s service was particularly uplifting, and rid me of the bitter aftertaste of Christmas.
No doubt you’ve made new year’s resolutions by now, or as I like to call them, “resillusions,” because let’s face it, you rarely if ever carry them out. If you’re a female, weight loss is probably on your list. If you’re a guy, then chances are that you wanna quit smoking or some other destructive habit. I used to make them too. I’d resolve to get more organized, but my list was lost underneath the clutter. I’d resolve to stop procrastinating, but I kept putting it off. So I stopped. But since I know you’ll persist, why not make a simple, general resolution like, “I want to improve myself,” and work at it day by day? Hopefully that’s a resolution that you won’t forget by late January, as you get back in your daily routine. Regardless, 2007 promises to be a year of new beginnings and new challenges. Nah! It’s gonna be the same old, same old. Happy New Year everyone! Now that the festivities are over, get back to work!
