My thoughts on…the Amish killings
You know how pissed off this headline made me? Five Amish schoolgirls, the oldest of them 13, were killed by a psychologically and emotionally unstable man, Charles Carl Roberts IV, who then killed himself. I don’t really care about him killing himself. He deserved it for what he did. And his reason for doing such a horrible thing? He said in his suicide notes that he molested two of his relatives 20 years ago, and dreamt of doing it again.
He also said he was “filled with so much hate” and “unimaginable emptiness.” He especially felt hatred towards God concerning the premature death of his prematurely born daughter. You felt guilty about molesting, so you chose to kill? I don’t follow your line of reasoning sir. Plus it happened 20 years ago, so at the time you were 12, a kid yourself. I know you wouldn’t have gotten more than a slap on the wrist. So you killed these girls for no reason at all really.
He carried lubricating jelly with him, suggesting that he was planning to molest them. What angers me most about this is that he killed Amish girls. The Amish are the closest thing we have to innocents in this world, and the kill Amish children is killing the innocent of the innocent. I don’t empathize with him because of this disturbed mind. What he did was evil. Pure and simple.
As usual, people never saw it coming. They never do do they? It’s always the quiet people. Why the Amish? Why attack such peaceful people? Maybe it was the proximity, or maybe they were just lambs for the slaughter in his sick view. How are the Amish people reacting to this? Surprisingly well actually. They are reaching out to the killer’s family, and are content, believing that it was “God’s will,” though they are more cautious now, being touched by fear. Bless the Amish people. Such calmness in the face of adversity.
