My thoughts on…Abu Al-Zarqawi’s death
June 9th 2006 -
Damn Blogger! For the past few days, it’s been giving problems, making it difficult for me to post or edit my template. I tell you, if Blogger wasn’t free, I’d have quit using it by now. Anyway, enough venting. The seemingly endless war in Iraq has taken a backseat in the media, and is only brought up when there is a car bombing or as ammunition against Bush. It’s once again in the headlines though, as Abu Al-Zarqawi, a high ranking member of Al-Qaeda, was killed yesterday. The building he and 5 others were in, located 30 miles from Baghdad, was bombed by U.S. forces using two 500 pound bombs.
The Bush administration was quick to blow their own horn, starting with Dubya himself. He called it ” a significant victory in the war on terror”. even the Democrats had to agree. Of course they put their spin on it. The photo of the now deceased Zarqawi was paraded for all to see, like a hunter showing off the mounted head of his prized prey. You should have seen all the hullabaloo created over it. You’d think they killed Bin Laden himself! They seemingly exaggerated his brutality and rank to make their victory seem all the greater. At one point, he was called the No.1 terrorist! Iraqis celebrated in the streets, glad this monster was finally gone.
But not everyone feels the same way about his death. Many Muslims believe that he was a martyr, a hero. This shows some progress in the seemingly fruitless war in Iraq. But Bin Laden’s no slouch, and has probably chosen Zarqawi’s successor by now. All signs point to Abu Al-Masri. But in the meantime, let the Yanks celebrate. Hopefully this will help Bush to gain favour with the 2/3s of America that don’t support him, and give strength to those battle-weary troops bravely fighting for baseball, Mom and apple pie.

Blogger is terrible! About Al-Zarqawi, some people are happy here in the states but many here don’t think it will do any good in the long run. I really hope it helps but I just don’t know. Bush will win the support of people like me and the rest of the country (most of which hate him right now) when we get Bin Laden himself. And you are making a safe bet when you say that a successor is being groomed or already in place.

It is a significant occurrance to take out the #1 Al-Qaida terrorist in Iraq and the #2 or #3 in the entire global terror organization, so why wouldn’t President Bush say something about it.
Shortly after him being taken out they raided 30+ locations and picked up more Al-Qaida terrorist and weapons caches and more intel.
Ricardo,
I know you didn’t agree with the decision to go into Iraq in the first place, but I hope that you are right about things turning around for President Bush when we get bin Laden. It is a encouraging sign when it was reported that part of the tips on his wearabouts came from within his own terror group.

Blogger has been really frustrating lately!
I think that terrorists are like the Hydra. If you cut off one head, another one or more will grow in its place.

If I were you, I’d drop blogger and get my own domain. @ US$12 or less per quarter, its not difficult, you are talking about under J$300 a month. For the price of three beers for the month, you can be able to have your own templates, much more rapid performance and more!
I highly recommend it!

I use Blogger with my own domain, but I still have problems when Blogger does.
As for Zarqawi, I hope it helped, but I really don’t think it will.
I’d like to invite you to join our brand new, family friendly BLOG VILLAGE TopList. I think your blog would be a great addition.
You can find out more about it at the BLOG VILLAGE blog.

Thanks for the suggestion Madbull, but I think I’ll stick with Blogger. After all, it’s free.

The template looks very good by the way!
I think that we’ve been lied to so much by the US government, it’s hard to believe anything they tell me about Iraq. Zarqawi was a terrorist, if you say so sure. Zarqawi is dead, fine by me. I’ve become numb to the whole situation which is very sad.
