I absolutely adore comic books, and though I no longer collect them, given the heartbreak I felt when my mother threw out my old collection, I still keep track on things happening in the comic book world. the latest buzz is about the return of Batwoman. Yes, there is a Batwoman. i heard about her back in the day, but since I never got my hands on a comic featuring her, I assumed she was like Bigfoot or Justin Guarini’s singing career. You know, a myth. No wonder, because the original Batwoman hasn’t been in the comics since the ’70s, when she was killed off by The League Of Assassins.

Well, the new Batwoman has a more modern suit and a hotter look, having lost the soccer mom look she once had. Oh, and one more thing. She’s gay. Yes, Batwoman’s a lesbian, and her ex is a female detective. This marks another one of DC’s “culturally aware superheroes”. There was a female superhero with AIDS not too long ago. This doesn’t really bother me since she’s so obscure. It would if it were a more popular superhero like Superman or Batman. So if you start to see mullet wearing biker chicks at your local comic book store, you’ll know why.
