My thoughts on…the West Indies’ win over India
The West Indies. Oh what a team! First they were at the top of the cricketing world, then they slowly descended into mediocrity. But the Windies are now one step to restoring their former glory, as they beat India by six wickets in the fourth one-day international, winning 3-1. I don’t normally watch the Windies play. Too depressing. But as day after day passed, the once dormant passion that the Jamaican public had for the Windies began to come alive. Slowly, then suddenly, people began to talk about cricket again. At first I heard about the match while overhearing the drunks at the bar next to my workplace watching the match, cheering with each four or six the Windies made. Then I heard more about their progress while talking to some friends.
At first I brushed off their foolish optimism. Hadn’t they learned by now? But gradually I too felt a little hope building within me, and I wanted to join in the excitement. But I remained cautious, remembering the countless times my hopes were crushed by the Windies’ poor performance. I was pleasantly surprised when they won though. There was a lot of excitement over the victory, more than when the Windies beat Zimbabwe. At first I couldn’t understand it, then I realized: India is 3rd in the world rankings, Zimbabwe is 9th, making India a bigger prize. First Zimbabwe, now India. Impressive. Wonder if they can take on New Zealand next? It may be too soon for that. But for now, Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean will savour their victory.

I hope we’re finally back on the road to greatness.
Didn’t expect them to do so well. But that’s Windies for you-capable of highs and lows
Should be an interesting series the next time the Windies meet England

We won today too, did you watch?
My partner watched that series till 2 am. In India, Cricket has such hype, ppl just stand outside the T.V showrooms to watch the match (if, they are not at home)
W.Indies played very well. I hope next time India win some another series.
Cheers
