My thoughts on…Mother’s Day

May 15th 2006 -

Mother’s Day, the one day out of the 365 that mothers are rewarded for the hell that their ungrateful children and husbands put them through. All through last week the airwaves were abuzz with ads for this special day. Items like jewellery, clothing and flowers were up for sale. But we all know what we got our moms. Cheap, impersonal household items. But you might wanna return that china set after you find out just how much Mama’s hard work is worth. A recent study revealed that stay-at-home moms deserve US$134,121 per annum as salary. Makes you appreciate her a little more doesn’t it?

I was unable to get my mom anything because I’ve been working overtime all week, and as a consequence, never got time to pick her out a gift. I promised I’d get her one during the week though. God knows she deserves it. She’s the kindest, most caring person I’ve ever met. Sometimes I wonder how one could have such a gentle heart in such an uncaring world. She’s also an excellent cook and wife, though my father wouldn’t completely agree with that. The only problem I have with her is that she’s too caring, to the point of being overprotective. Even at this age, she gets worried if I stay out too late. Sometimes I wonder if she still sees me as the shy 8 year-old that always ran to her for security. Thanks Mom, for everything. And thank you mothers of the world. Though you might not always feel it, you are appreciated. Oh, and one more thing. THIS IS MY 100TH POST! Thanks to my loyal readers for sticking with me thus far.
