My thoughts on..the West Indies’ victory against Zimbabwe

Yesterday morning I asked my mother if anything interesting happened on the news the day before. “Nothing”, she said. “Oh, and the West Indies beat Zimbabwe”. My jaw hit the floor. Even now, I’m having difficulty processing it. The West Indies actually beat something other than their record for losing? I can’t remember the last time they won a match. The Windies were once a formidable force in the world of cricket. Now they’re just the punching bag for other cricket teams. Well, it looks like the punching bag struck a blow of its own.

I saw the first part of the test. Decent batting by Gayle, Sarwan and the other pros. The rookies didn’t do so bad either. Except for re-elected captain Brian Lara’s substandard batting, which has become a recent trend with him, stemming from complacency no doubt. For a captain he’s setting a bad example. But the position of captain no longer carries the honour it once did. The captain is now the guy that everyone blames when the team loses. They actually looked like they might have a chance. But I was careful not to hope, because when it comes to crushing hope, only the harsh realities of life can beat the Windies. Some of you may criticize me for taking such a pessimistic stance on my home team, but trust me, if you lived in the Caribbean you’d understand. This win serves as a finger’s twitch for the comatose Windies. A glimmer of hope, but too small to tell if they’ll ever fully recover.

It was an ODI.If windies couldn’t beat that Zimbabwe team they should just quit with cricket

zimbabwe is a pure soft team. this is like their third string team after the first stringers all ran from zimbabwe cause of the regime and the second stringers were replaced last year. look at the stats for those guys they all are novices
