My thoughts on…the brothel that cares

On the heels of my post on the legalization of prostitution in Jamaica, comes another post on prostitution. This time it’s based in Germany, a country in which prostitution is legal. Turns out a brothel in Berlin is offering special deals for virgins or those who have never been to a brothel before. The regular rate there is 60 euros for 30 minutes of sex. And get this. In order to deal with first-timers, prostitutes at the “house of love” are given sensitivity training. Who would have thought that there would be opportunities for career advancement in prostitution? What’s next, prostitutes that double as psychologists to deal with their clients’ erectile dysfunction?
And first-timers are not only youngsters. Oh no. They are often 40 years old or older! It amazes me that that’s possible in this day and age, with this generation of highly sexed women. Guess the 40 Year Old Virgin wasn’t so farfetched now was it? The only question I have is how exactly will they tell the n00bs from the cheap bastards who just want some discount love? So guys, if you’ve tried seducing everyone from your best friend to that desperate, suicidal social outcast to that sexy foreign exchange student, and all have failed, then this may be the place for you.

Prostition is a completely victimless crime. It is a simple this-for-that exchange, similar to when you buy flour from the grocery store. No harm, no foul.

I disagree Malcolm. Unlike flour, a human being is not an object. A prostitute’s dignity has to be sacrificed in order to do his/her job.

Ah…however, we are talking about consenting adults here. The only people who are sacrificing their dignity are those that are making the conscious choice to, and I don’t see why that should be policed. We are talking about people who may otherwise starve or become homeless, and for them, the sex trade is a viable alternative. Hell, I sacrifice my dignity every day, and I certainly don’t get paid as well.

Well, heres the rub… whatever you or I think of prostitution, it will continue to flourish, much like rats and cockroaches do. That LASCO bredrin may therefore have a point about legalising it so that the practitioners can more easily avail themselves of health care, etc.
