Some food for thought
March 10th 2006 -
I found this on the Taskmaster’s Blog and thought I’d share it with you guys.
It’s called “Generational Paradox”. So take some time out of your “busy” schedule to read it and you’ll see why the name is appropriate.
We have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more but enjoy it less.
We have bigger houses but smaller families, more conveniences but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge but less judgment.
We have more experts but more problems, more medicine but less health.
We have multiplied our possessions but reduced our value.
We talk too much, love too seldom and hate too often.
We have learned how to make a living but not a life.
We have added years to our life but not life to our years.
We have been to the moon and back and yet have trouble meeting our own neighbors.
We have conquered outer space but not inner space.
We have cleaned up the air but polluted our souls.
We have split the atom but not our prejudice.
We write more but learn less.
We have learned to rush but not to wait.
We have higher incomes but lower morals.
We have become high on quantity but low on quality.
These are the days of two incomes but times of spiritual poverty.
These are the days of fancier houses but broken homes.
These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one-night stands, over-weight bodies and pills that do everything but produce joy.
Painfully accurate, don’t you think?

It is. Our views have become very provincial. We overlook and even never think about principles such as these. Thanks.

Its true but sometimes I still feel that we are also not so bad. I personally feel that now childrens are much more understanding and open unlike our older generations.
