My thoughts on…the banned Mortal Kombat kommercial
Mortal Kombat. It’s one of the most violent video game franchises of all time, with enough gore and carnage to make Hannibal Lecter’s mouth water. But nothing could prepare me for the Mortal Kombat commercial so violent that it was banned from the airwaves. And judging by the fact that Fear Factor is still on the air, TV’s standards are pretty low. Yes, it’s that brutal. It is entitled “Blood on the Carpet”, and was created for Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. I found it on a digg post, and even a hardcore MK fan like myself was pretty surprised by its brutality. So if you think you have the stomach for it, klick here!

It IS too violent. I guess I am in support of that ban.
My ISP acting up so I couldn’t get to see it properly
I agree with you, TV’s standards are at an all time low. However, given a chance, their standards could probably get lower. It’s all about the ‘bennies’. LOL
I remember when the first MK came out. I liked the game, but I liked “Street Fighter” a lot more.
Thanks for the link. I’m going to check it out now.
Boy, you weren’t kidding. It’s very violent. What bothers me about this, the makers of this game will gear this game towards the kids. We already have too many kids in the system for committing violent crimes. I’m not saying video games influence kids to commit crimes, but it does send out a wrong message—violence is cool.
Violent? I suppose. Too violent? How the heck would I know. Whenever I hear people expounding on various problems of our world I just remember that 32,000 children die each day of starvation. Pretty much puts things in perspective for me.
I am not surprised that it came from Midway’s Mortal Kombat. Since the first edition of this game, all hell broke loose regarding video game violence. This ad is too violent.
I also agree that there is 32000 kids die every day of starvation and it’s extremely sad. But that does not mean we must silence ourselves regarding other atrocities, like this ad.
