My thoughts on…the return of Ken
February 10th 2006 -
Barbie and Ken. They were the power couple of the toy world. That is until Barbie ditched him for a surfer dude named Blaine. Ouch. Now, after 2 years of boozing and therapy, Ken is back, determined to win back his beloved’s heart with his new look. “New Ken” sports a modern, metrosexual type look, and is described as Orlando Bloom meets Matthew McConaghey. Ken was designed by Phillip Bloch, known for dressing A-list celebrities. He said he enjoyed the project, and that he and Barbie go way back. See, that’s exactly why boys shouldn’t play with dolls! If I have a son, I’m burnin’ all Barbies within a 2-mile radius!
Anyway, Ken hasn’t only revamped his exterior, but his mind, body and soul, according to Mattel. Ken’s makeover is more than an attempt to win back Barbie. Worldwide sales for Barbie dolls fell 11 percent. Barbie’s main competition, those upstart Bratz dolls, have taken over the U.S. market, because today’s youngsters aren’t as innocent as the previous, and they want dolls…with edge, something Barbie sorely lacks. Ken’s makeover is expected to breathe some new life into the brand, and Barbie herself will be getting a makeover in the near future. Barbie is said to like Ken’s new look, but no word on whether or not they will get back together. I hope Ken succeeds in winning Barbie’s heart once more. He sure went through a lot of trouble to make himself look even gayer for her.

Babs doesn’t deserve Ken, he looks desperate doing this. They should make a hot Babs friend, hook him up with her and make all these stories about jealous fights in clubs, hair pulling, nail scratching. that kinda stuff .. Reality TV style stuff LOL

That would be more realistic. I can imagine little girls playing out that scenario.

Noooo…just when I thought I had finally taken Barbie out of my mind!
I think they should make a soap opera of the two…although every girl in America (if not the world) would be torn to part away from viewing it.
PS
About the Blog Skins thing, the point is to use a template and customize it yourself. I have used about a dozen templates from there, but you would never have known as I redid 80% (sometimes more) to my own liking.

Thanks for the advice Darnell, but I think I’ll stick with this design. It’s nice and simple. I don’t want anything too fussy. I’ll only change it if I see something that really impresses me.

Now that Ken is all revamped-alized….he shouldnt get back with Barbie. What’s sad is that it’s a situation similar to the goose ditching the ugly duckling in high school for the football player duck, now ugly duck turns glamorous - goose comes flocking back. Real superficial. What’s also sad is that if Ken changed his appearance to re-attract Barbie then his superficiality is equally bad. But what’s REALLY sad…is that we’re here talking about Barbie and Ken. Hmmmm
