My thoughts on…Bob Marley’s 61st birthday
February 6th 2006 -
Today, February 6, 2006, is Bob Marley’s birthday. If he were alive today, he would have been 61 years old. And you can be sure that Jamaicans (and even non-Jamaicans) are celebrating the event. Televisions were showing documentaries on his life and work, radios were playing his music all day long, and newspapers dedicated entire sections to mark the event. The Bob Marley Foundation is holding celebrations all through the week, which will include the unveiling of Jamaica’s National Heritage Plaque and a Cultural Vibration Concert at the Bob Marley Museum. Rastafarians have already begun to flock to the Museum, proudly waving their flags of red, yellow and green.
Bob Marley is one of Jamaica’s greatest sons. In fact he was almost made a National Hero. If you ask any tourist about Jamaica, most of the time Bob Marley’s name will come up right after “Reggae music” and right before “weed.” Bob Marley helped to make reggae music internationally known, and now ranks among pop and rock n’ roll as one of the most popular music genres in existence. He also used music as a tool to champion the causes of the poor and oppressed. Happy Birthday Bob!

Bob Marley is great. I love Natty Dread. Have you heard Charlie Hunter’s cover of it??
I wrote a political satire blog that I think you might like here:

check it out. I really like my newest post. Tell me what you think.

Well in order to write effective satire you kinda have to write it in almost an essay kinda style.
All an essay is is something you write to prove a point, with a beginning, middle, and end.
Writing in competant paragraphs proves my point better than say, writing it in one big paragraph or a bunch of single lines. Granted, there is a time and a place for each of these.
Thanks for the comment!

Happy belated birthday, Mr. Marley!
I went on a cruise to Jamaica a couple of years ago. I had no idea that weed was so prevalent there. lol

Thanks for stopping by my blog and saying hi. I didn’t realize people were actually reading it! At any rate, I remember quite well when Bob Marley died, as I was in First Form at STGC (I’m sure you know what that is.) Our English Teacher had given us an assignment with Bob Marley as the source, and to include some of his lyrics and of course we waited… then he died, and we couldn’t get our hands on any of his albums. At any rate, I was fortunate enough to get the information from one of my friends who also went to STGC, but, wasn’t in my class and didn’t have her for English. I went through much of high school with Ziggy Marley, and I met the younger brother (I forget his name now) as well. If you can land a copy of the 1985 yearbook, if we did one, (I don’t remember now) you’ll see our class pictures.
