My thoughts on…the IE7 bug

February 4th 2006 -

The release of Internet Explorer 7 gave the IE fans much reason to rejoice. It would finally make those Firefox users shut up. But soon after its release, a bug was found. It was found by Tom Ferris, well known for finding holes in various browsers. It took him only 15 minutes to find the bug. Here are his findings. He said “a denial of service vulnerability exists within Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 2 which allows for an attacker to cause the browser to crash, and or to execute arbitrary code on the targeted host.” And to add insult to injury, guess what he recommended. “Use Firefox, which has better security features.” And soon after the discovery of the bug, Firefox released its latest version, 1.5.0.1, which makes it more stable and secure. Tough luck IE. Just when you were beginning to catch up to Firefox, it blazed ahead and left you in its fiery trail. Can’t be too hard on Microsoft though. It is the beta version after all.

My thoughts regarding IE and FF is that the latter is technologically better. If you analyze IE’s features, they are copies of FF and Opera features.

Even the RSS button is a copy of FF. Now IE has a problem to solve and its reputation as a poor security product is again confirmed.

Play it safe and use Firefox!

    Regards,

    Omar.-

This is one IE user that tried FireFox and wasn’t happy with it and went right back to IE. IE7 is in Beta and by the time it is released the issues will be resolved.

    Hey Leon,

    Thanks for stopping by!

I am glad IE came out with their browser. Firefox will only make them better, as competition seems to be the only driving force that motivates microsoft to innovation.

As far as your weblog goes, I think the content is great although it may need a face lift. I have some ideas on how to make your site appealing, although I would recommend you visit BlogSkins.com as they have thousands of skins to choose from.

And let me know why you’ve updated your site. ;)
