School re-opens
For most people, “work as usual” began on January 3rd. Students enjoy a bit of a luxury, as they tend to get longer breaks. That ended on January 9th though, as schools across the world reopened. As the Jamaican expression goes, “Free paper bun!” Being a student myself, I had to return to University. I left home with nothing but a book, couple pencils and pens, and a head full of confusion. Being a 1st year student, I had no idea what the routine was for the first day of reopened school. But that was ok, because I couldn’t wait to get back to the wonderful world of academia. Yeah right! I’d rather be studying the backs of my eyelids.
I met my classmates and learned I had to collect my timetable. It was disappointing. 1st Semester the classes were bunched together, so I had two free days. Now I have none, because the classes are scattered about. I have lots of free time in between them though, and most of them start late, so I can get some extra z’s. All in all, it’s not so bad. After that I had class at 10, but thanks to an error on the timetable, I didn’t have to go, so I idled with my friends. So school really began today. I had Oral Comm (still can’t get through that without giggling) from 8 to 10. I’ll have a community service project meeting from 2 to 3, which is the university’s effort to teach this rabble of non-stop partygoers civic duty (Good luck with that). And finally, Intro to Psychology from 3 to 5. And so my quest for academic enlightenment begins anew.
