I am a child of the 80's so I know all about Karate Kid and Pat. I am very saddened. This year we've lost some wonderful celebrities including Luther Vandross. So many of these people have shaped film and music for today. I was a little bitty thing when Karate Kid came out but boy do I remember how huge it was! I mean, lunch kits, cartoon, books, T-shirts, they even made a headscarf of the one Ralph Macchio wore in the film. I really respect Pat and though I hadn't seen anything he'd done in a while, I still miss him.
